After-Sun Aloe Vera Treatment – 90 Minutes
A cooling 90-minute aloe vera gel massage designed for skin that has had too much Thai sun — one of the spa's best-selling treatments.
- Duration
- 90 minutes
- Max group
- 2 pax

Everyone overdoes the sun in Thailand at least once. This ninety-minute treatment exists for exactly that day: a full-body massage using cool aloe vera gel rather than warm oil, worked gently into skin that is hot, tight and unhappy.
Aloe is the traditional answer to sunburn for good reason — it cools on contact, calms redness and rehydrates skin that has lost a lot of moisture. Applied over ninety minutes with a therapist's hands rather than dabbed on from a bottle, the effect is dramatically better: the gel is worked evenly into the whole body, the pressure is kept light and soothing, and the cooling sensation lasts long after you leave.
It is also simply a very pleasant treatment even without sunburn, particularly in the hot season between March and May when everyone in Chiang Mai is looking for anything cold. There is no heat, no steam and no deep pressure involved, which makes it the gentlest treatment on the menu and a good choice if standard Thai massage feels like too much.
The treatment takes place in a private room with a warm massage bed at a small garden spa in the heart of the old town, minutes from Chiang Mai Gate. Free hotel pick-up around the old town is included, along with herbal welcome tea, towels and showers. It is one of the spa's best-sellers, so book ahead where you can.

That is precisely what it is for, provided the skin is not blistered or broken. Tell your therapist which areas are worst and they will keep pressure light. If the burn is severe or blistered, see a pharmacy first and book the spa for later in your trip.
None. No steam, no hot compress and no warm oil — the whole point is cooling. Pressure is light throughout.
Yes, especially in the hot season. It is a hydrating, cooling full-body treatment and the most gentle option on the menu, which also makes it a good first spa treatment for anyone nervous about massage.

Yes, we recommend booking at least 24 hours ahead, and more in high season (November to February) when the good spas in Chiang Mai fill up in the evenings.
Yes — private rooms are available, including couples' rooms. Say so when you book so the right room is held for you.
Bring almost nothing. Loose spa clothing, towels and everything else needed is provided, and there are showers on site. Comfortable clothes to change back into afterwards are the only real recommendation.
Never expected, but it is customary in Thai spa culture and always appreciated. Fifty to a hundred baht for a therapist you were happy with is normal.
