Rainforest Zipline Full Course + ATV Adventure

The experience

The maximum version of a day out here. First the full zipline circuit — 34 stations, four sky bridges, three rope abseils and cables that run 350, 400, 500, 700 and finally 900 metres across an entire hillside of tropical rainforest. Then you swap the harness for an ATV and ride the dirt trails through the same forest at ground level. Combined activity time is around two and a half hours, which is about as much adventure as one half-day can reasonably hold.

The 900-metre cable is what makes the full course worth the upgrade. It is long enough that the first rush fades and you are simply flying — watching the canopy slide past below and the ridgelines rotate around you — and there is nothing else like it within an hour of Chiang Mai. The four sky bridges are the counterpoint: elevated walkways where the pace drops to a stroll and the 360-degree views over the forest take over.

The ATV half of the day starts with instruction, not with the throttle. You get a briefing and a training session on the machine before you go anywhere, then follow a guide onto the trails — dirt tracks, ruts, mud and open stretches through the same hillside forest you have just been flying over. Helmets are DOT and CE rated. Drivers must be at least fifteen; children between seven and fourteen ride as passengers, and depending on how the driver handles the machine the guide may take the passenger instead.

Safety here is the selling point rather than an afterthought. All the hardware is Petzl, made in France and the same brand used by professional climbers and mountain rescue teams, and every station runs a dual-cable system so you are attached at two independent points the whole time. The guides are trained in CPR and first aid, and they clip and unclip you at each platform rather than leaving you to manage the carabiners yourself. The age range is deliberately wide — five to sixty-five — and the maximum weight is 120 kg, which is the most generous limit of any zipline course in the province. The site sits in tropical rainforest about an hour from the centre of Chiang Mai, and there are four pick-up windows a day: 08:00-08:30, 09:30-10:00, 11:30-12:00 and 13:00-13:30. Transfer both ways is included and can be by van, SUV, car or pick-up depending on group size. A Thai buffet meal and a bottle of water are part of the price, eaten at the cafe and restaurant beside the course, which looks out over the forest.

Itinerary

  1. 08:00

    Hotel pick-up in Chiang Mai

One of four windows — 08:00-08:30, 09:30-10:00, 11:30-12:00 or 13:00-13:30. About an hour to the site. With two and a half hours of activity ahead, the early slots are best.

  2. 09:00

Arrival, Petzl kit and zipline briefing

Harness and helmet fitted, safety briefing on the dual-cable system, body position, braking and hand signals.

  3. 09:20

Full course, first half — opening cables and sky bridges

The circuit builds from shorter flights through the first sky bridges and staircase sections, with the first abseil descent along the way.

  4. 10:10

Full course, second half — the 500, 700 and 900-metre flights

The long spans, one after another, ending with the 900-metre cable, the longest on the course. Two more abseils and the remaining sky bridges close out the circuit.

  5. 11:20

    ATV briefing and training session

Out of the harness, into a DOT/CE-rated helmet, and through the instruction and training run before anyone rides: throttle, brakes, body position, how to read a rutted track.

  6. 11:40

    ATV trail ride

Onto the forest trails behind a guide — dirt, mud, ruts and open stretches through the hillside you have just flown across.

  7. 12:15

Thai buffet lunch at the forest cafe

The included Thai buffet and bottle of water at the on-site restaurant, which is earned by this point.

  8. 13:15

    Return transfer to your hotel

About an hour back into Chiang Mai. Later departures run the same sequence shifted by the pick-up time.

Frequently asked questions

The brochure gives approximately 2.5 hours of combined activity, and duration varies with group size. Add an hour of driving each way and time for the buffet and you are looking at roughly five hours door to door.

The short-course combo is 2,900 THB with cables to 400 metres; this one is 3,500 THB and adds the 500, 700 and 900-metre flights, 16 more stations, two more sky bridges and a third abseil. If long cables are the point of a zipline for you, the extra 600 THB is the best-spent money in the range.

Drivers must be 15 or older; children of 7 to 14 ride as passengers. If the training session suggests a driver is not confident enough to carry someone, the guide will take the passenger instead. No previous ATV experience is needed — instruction and a training run come first.

Fitter than for the short course. Two hours on a hillside circuit with staircases, a net ladder and walking between platforms, followed by an ATV session, is a real half-day of physical activity in tropical humidity. If that sounds like a lot, the short course plus ATV covers the same ground more gently.

The zipline takes ages 5 to 65 with a 120 kg maximum per person — the most generous weight limit in the province. The ATV rules are separate: 15+ to drive, 7-14 as a passenger.

Closed sports shoes and clothes you do not mind getting muddy. Shorts or leggings work best under the zipline harness. Sunscreen, insect repellent, a phone on a secure strap, and a hair tie if you have long hair.

Light rain does not stop either activity — this is rainforest. Guides pause the zipline in heavy rain, thunder or lightning and resume when the cables are safe. A full weather cancellation is rescheduled or refunded in full.
